Executive Director

Amy Ward Kirschbaum

Amy Ward Kirschbaum has been the Executive Director of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and SW Washington since 2012. Amy has a background in public affairs and legislative management. She's planned a multitude of events, written dozens of press releases and even more newsletter articles. Amy has worked for the U.S. Congress, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Metro. She has also logged countless hours as a volunteer and fundraiser for various schools within the Portland Pubic Schools system.

Outside of work, Amy loves to travel and experience different cultures particularly through the local cuisine. She also enjoys cooking, digging in the dirt and hanging out in her backyard with her two dogs and seven chickens. Most recently, Amy has rediscovered joy through painting.

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL, Amy attended college at Duke University, after which she moved north to begin her career in Washington, D.C. Following a spectacular visit to Oregon one dry, beautiful summer, Amy packed her bags and moved west.

Now 25 years later, Amy and her Oregon-born husband, Charlie, are raising their two teenagers. Amy's personal hero is her mom, Laura, who passed away in 2006 from ovarian cancer.

We feel so fortunate to have Amy to champion our mission to support, educate and advocate for women with ovarian cancer.
