Clinical trials overview

Clinical trials are research studies in which doctors try to find ways to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. These studies on cancer patients are carefully monitored by scientists and doctors. It is always an individual's choice to become involved in a clinical trial. An excellent overview of clinical trials is provided on the website of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. You can read it here.

Another thorough and readable discussion of clinical trials is available in the magazine article,
" A Complete Guide to Clincal Trials", found in the MAMM Women, Cancer and Community, November - December, 2005 issue. Read it for your own use and share it with your doctors as well. "A Complete Guide to Clinical Trials" addresses such issues as types of trials, understanding the phases, Is a clinical trial the right move, how to find a clinical trial, and questions to ask.
