Save the Date: July 14-17, 2012 15^th Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference: This year's Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC July 14-17, 2012.

December 17, 2011 Survivors Teaching Students Training Honolulu, HI: Diane O'Connor helped to train three more Honolulu women to speak to health care professionals in their Survivors Teaching Students program and the University of Hawaii.
July 9 - 12, 2011 2011 Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference Washington, DC: The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Annual Conference is the largest gathering of ovarian cancer survivors, caregivers and medical professionals. Ryan and Karla Theer and Diane O'Connor (shown here at Sen. Cantwell's office) spent the day on Capitol Hill advocating for funding for ovarian cancer research.

July 10, 2011 2011 Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference, Turning Promise Into Action Washington, DC: Ovarian cancer survivor Diane Rader O'Connor was honored for her exemplary service and support to the ovarian cancer community. O'Connor received the Cindy Melancon Spirit of Survivorship Award in Washington, DC, during the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Annual Conference. The award commends and honors an individual for his or her commitment to the ovarian cancer community. The reward is named after Cindy Melancon, a founder of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

An ovarian cancer survivor since 2002, O'Connor is President and co-founder of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and SW Washington, a Partner Member of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and SW Washington strives to promote awareness of ovarian cancer and to provide education to women and the health care community. They offer support to all ovarian cancer survivors by providing opportunities for networking, education and community outreach as well as advocate for public policy and funding for ovarian cancer research.
June 3 - 7, 2011 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting, Chicago, IL: At this year's American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting, numerous posters and presentations explored issues related to ovarian cancer. July 10 - 13, 2010 2010 Ovarian Cancer National Alliance's Power is Teal Conference Washington, DC: The 13th annual conference of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance was held in Washington DC from July 10-13. Laura Dickson Bernards, Diane O'Connor, Donna Blankenship, and Pamela Phillips all participated in Lobby Day for the state of Washington and Oregon. July 7-10, 2009: Ovarian Cancer National Alliance conference Washington, DC: Diane O'Connor, Becky Coulson, and Amy Miller, of Vancouver; Cheryl Jackson, Laura Bernards, and Terri Noyes of Portland; and Donna Blankenship of Bend attended the conference together. In addition, we participated in Capitol Hill Day where we met with our legislators and health legislative aides to advocate for more funding for ovarian cancer.
May 2, 2009: STS Training Honolulu, HI: Diane O'Connor and Diane Elizondo trained 7 ovarian cancer survivors in Honolulu to speak with 3rd year medical students at the University of Hawaii about ovarian cancer. This is the newest STS (Survivors Teaching Students) program in the country. We are very proud that we could assist in making this program a reality! Currently there are over 60 STS programs throughout the nation. STS is a signature program of the Ovarian Cancer National Allliance.

Friday, September 7, 2007: "Teal Time" Day: September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Wear teal on September 7th, and spread the word on ovarian cancer!
July 11, 2007: Capitol Hill Day at the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference, Washington DC.: Karla Theer of Battle Ground and Diane O'Connor of Vancouver meet with Washington State Congressman Brian Baird to advocate for $9 million for Johanna's Law; The Gynecologic Cancer Awareness and Education Act; $20 million for the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program; $6.5 million for the Ovarian Cancer Control Initiative in CDC (Center for Disease Control); and a 6.7% increase for NIH/NCI budget to support research, including clinical trials, early detection and treatment methods.
July 10-13, 2007: Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Annual Conference, Washington DC.: The 10th annual OCNA conference was held in Washington DC from July 10-13.
Sept. 6-9, 2006: Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Annual Conference, Washington DC: OCNA sponsored its 9th annual conference. This popular and powerful event brought together survivors, families, activists, and health professionals from all over the country to learn from top experts in the ovarian cancer field. This was the 5th year some of us have attended this outstanding conference.
