- Receiving a diagnosis of ovarian cancer can be a huge shock. Those of us who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer
and have sought treatment want to be available for newly diagnosed women. It might be an e-mail, a phone call, or

- Speaking to groups
We are willing to speak to any group who would benefit from increased awareness of ovarian
cancer. It might be a group of neighbors, a women’s group, or a professional organization.

- Speaking to health care professionals and students

"Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives" is a program to educate future health care professionals about early signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer in order to increase early detection.
- Medical students at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU)
We talk with all 3rd year medical students at OHSU during their ob/gyn rotation. We strive to increase their awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer by sharing our personal stories.
- Nursing school students at Concordia, Linfield, OHSU, University of Portland, WSU-Vancouver, and Walla Walla University
We speak to 3rd and 4th year nursing school students as a part of their chronic illness and family nursing classes. We share our personal experiences to especially address issues related to nursing.
- Naturopathic students at the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM)
We speak to all 3rd and 4th year students at NCNM as a part of their grand rounds
program. Our purpose is to increase awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer for these future naturopaths.
- Nurse practitioner students at Washington State University (WSU) in Vancouver, WA and at OHSU in Portland, OR
We speak to future nurse practitioners at WSU-Vancouver and at OHSU where we discuss the diagnosis of ovarian cancer as well as issues related to nursing.
- Pacific University in Hillsboro, OR: Pharmacy and Physician Assistant students
We speak to future pharmacists and physician assistants at the medical campus of Pacific University.
- We have spoken to the Oregon Society of Physician Assistants, Employees of Regence Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Operating Room nurses at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, and nurses at Kaiser Interstate"
- Exhibiting at health fairs
- Health fairs are an excellent opportunity for distributing awareness materials on ovarian cancer.

information. We have exhibited at the Komen Health Fairs, the OHSU Women's Health Conference, the Cancer Care Resources Summit, the Native American Tribal Cancer Care Conference, Woman's Health Fair at PCC, and the Sherie Hildreth Empowerment Walks

will keep you posted on legislation related to ovarian cancer and action you can take to
