Q: What is your connection to ovarian cancer and OCAOSW?

A: My connection to OCAOSW is that I work with cancer patients in my capacity as a naturopathic cancer specialist.  Dr. Cynthia Bye is my mentor and previously served on this board. See http://www.journeyintegrativemed.com/ for more information about my practice.

Q: What is your biggest hope with regard to this disease?

A: Biggest hope for this disease: Better prevention, earlier detection, better treatment and eventually, cure. Community education is key.

Q: What does OCAOSW do for our community that makes it unique?

A: I love the commitment to education in this group.  So many people don't know what to watch for.  I also appreciate the education of medical students about the ovarian cancer patient experience.

Q: What are your proudest achievements in life? Or what brings you the greatest joy?

A: It brings me joy to be able to walk with my patients on their journey and provide comfort while also helping to restore their agency in the face of a terrible disease. I am from a family riddled with cancer and I know how much better people do when they have strong supportive care.  I love watching my patients take charge of their health.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: In my spare time I like to read, cook, travel and spend time with friends and family.

Q: Tell me something about you that most other people don't know about you.

A: Most people don't know that I earned a minor in religious studies as an undergraduate.
