Receiving a diagnosis of ovarian cancer can be a huge shock. Those of us who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and have sought treatment want to be available for newly diagnosed women. We issue a monthly online newsletter to our subscriber list. This newsletter includes a column called “In Her Own Words” which features the personal story of a different ovarian cancer survivor each month. The newsletter also contains information about events, classes, gatherings and breaking news.

Health fairs are an excellent opportunity for distributing awareness materials on ovarian cancer. If you are planning a health fair or know of one locally, please contact us for more information. We have exhibited at the Komen Health Fairs, the OHSU Women’s Health Conference, the Cancer Care Resources Summit, the Native American Tribal Cancer Care Conference, Woman’s Health Fair at PCC, and the SHOC Walk and others.
We are willing to speak to any group who would benefit from increased awareness of ovarian cancer. It might be a group of neighbors, a women’s group, or a professional organization. Please contact us in advance if you would like to request a speaker.
To help educate future health professionals about this disease, the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance offers a free educational program to health professional schools. Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives ® is proven to increase future health care professionals’ understanding of ovarian cancer symptoms and risk factors. This program brings ovarian cancer survivors into the classroom, where they present their unique stories along with facts about the disease. Students can interact with and learn from actual patients.
